Anthem Lights is known for releasing fun, creative and generally awesome cover songs and music videos via their YouTube page, but they might have outdone themselves this week.
Katy Perry will be performing at Super Bowl XLIX this Sunday, and in tribute, the quartet unveiled "Katy Parody," a mashup that features Perry's melodies, but with Super Bowl-specific lyrics. The four minute video includes the tunes of "Teenage Dream", "Roar", "California Girls", "Firework" and "Dark Horse."
The band is clearly divided between the teams, with Alan Powell and Caleb Grimm representing the New England Patriots, while Joey Stamper and Chad Graham root for the Seattle Seahawks.
Some lyrical highlights from the video:
"We can scream until we die at the screen like it makes a difference."
"This Sunday night refs are blowing all the calls, did they blow up all the balls?"
"We've got Brady, Blount and Gronkowski -- three time world champions; we're gonna make it four."
"Brady you're a firework, show 'em what your contract's worth; half a million every game is enough to make Seattle rain."
"But Russell Wilson loves the Lord, Tebows after every score, volunteers at soup kitchens, not to mention that he always wins."
"Bellichick, you know he's got his hoodie on. And Carroll's there, he's smacking on that chewing gum."
"Are you ready for (ready for)... the Super Bowl (Super Bowl)? It's almost time (almost time). Let's get that trophy back."
