As a way to give listeners more insight into the inspiration behind their music and the songwriting/recording process, The Gray Havens recently launched The Gray Havens Podcast. The new podcast currently features six episodes that accompany the first six songs released from their forthcoming Blue Flower album. The podcast is available now on top podcast platforms including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, Google Podcasts, and others.
The Blue Flower album is scheduled to release October 8. Each song from the album will have a dedicated episode in which The Gray Havens frontman, David Radford, takes listeners on a deep dive into the inspiration and making of the song.
"David is a natural at podcasting and helps listeners feel comfortably intrigued as he peels back the intricate layers of the songs," The Gray Havens' manager, Keith Stancil shares. "Even though I had an inside perspective during the songwriting/recording process, I am learning so much more about the album from the podcast and we hope listeners will do the same."
The Gray Havens began releasing singles from their Blue Flower album in February and initially kept listeners in suspense regarding the meaning and inspiration surrounding the Blue Flower. In the first podcast episode, Radford reveals that the entire album was inspired by CS Lewis's autobiography, Surprised by Joy. Each episode describes the particular inspiration for the song along with insight on the recording process.
Known for their unique blend of narrative pop, The Gray Havens continue to expand their reach into multiple genres with thought-provoking lyrical poetry and music. The duo has performed alongside such artists as The Oh Hellos, Josh Garrels, Ben Rector, John Marc McMillan, Drew Holcomb among others. The band will be joining John Mark McMillan on his Awaken In The Dream Tour this Fall. A list of tour dates is below.
