February 5, 2021, San Diego, CA -- Singer-songwriter, producer and award-winning composer Kira Fontana has released her new song, "Beauty for Ashes," a resonating anthem of healing and redemption. Fontana brings vivid and emotive storytelling into her lyrics and music, driven by the depth of her own personal spiritual transformation.
"You've taken the broken in me, and made it beautiful to see. You raised me up, no one else gives beauty for ashes," sings Fontana. "'Beauty for Ashes' represents the great exchange that Christ did for me, taking the broken in my life that had to die, and giving me a new life filled with radical beauty." A proclamation of hope, "Beauty for Ashes" unites listeners and worshipers of Jesus with the reality of spiritual death and resurrection in Christ.
"This song started so intimate and raw," recalls Fontana, "then I felt the majesty of God and immense wonder that He calls us out of darkness into His glorious light." Influenced by her background in classical music and film score composition, Fontana integrates compelling orchestral arrangements into many of her new songs.
"Beauty for Ashes" propels the listener on their own journey from brokenness to restoration, ending with an epic musical and lyrical climax reiterating the name of Jesus. "What Jesus did was the greatest act of love the human race has ever seen," Fontana expresses. "Beauty for Ashes" declares "there is no greater love, no name above."
Fontana drew inspiration from Isaiah 61:3 (NLT), "To all who mourn in Israel, He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair."
The new song was produced by Fontana and Grammy-winner Josh "Igloo" Monroy (JoJo, Andra Day) and written by Fontana, a singer-songwriter, producer, and the founder of Kingdom Sound.
