It seems Group 1 Crew is officially a crew of one, right now, following the announcement that vocalist Blanca Callahan is stepping down from the band.
In a statement released on the band's website, Callahan said that not only has her life changed recently due to the birth of her son, London, but it also has changed with what she believes is the birth of a whole new season of music and ministry.
Having started the group with co-founder Manwell Reyes as a 17 year old, Callahan said the decision to leave wasn't made easily or lightly. She said that moving forward, Reyes will continue to keep the vision of Group 1 Crew alive and will lead it into this next season. Meanwhile, Callahan hinted that she's got some new music of her own coming.
The band has one performance scheduled for 2013, with a show at Grand Canyon University scheduled January 25th before Group 1 Crew hops on The Only Name Tour with Big Daddy Weave in February.
