NewReleseToday is premiering Ernie Haase + Signature Sound's new live video for "We Three Kings." The track appears on the quartet's first full-length holiday album in 10 years, A Jazzy Little Christmas.
"One of my favorite songs on our recording, A Jazzy Little Christmas, is 'We Three Kings,' says Ernie Haase. "It was written by John Henry Hopkins, Jr. in 1857. Hopkins wanted to be a lawyer and was on that path when he heard the call to become a priest within the Episcopal Church. He went to the General Theological Seminary in New York City and it was there that he wrote this song for a musical. It caught on and was published and heralded as the first American Christmas carol. Up until that time, most songs performed at Christmas were from the Old World, so this song holds a special place in American history."
"It also holds a special place within our Ernie Haase + Signature Sound narrative because most of this record was recorded and put together right there in New York City," continues Haase. "The NYC connection doesn’t end there. We also have an original Christmas song we created in New York City called, 'Christmas In Manhattan.' I really love the common thread woven here into this project so much that we partnered with New York Cares’ Winter Wishes program. A portion of the proceeds from A Jazzy Little Christmas will help their efforts to provide Christmas gifts for children and teens throughout New York City."
A Jazzy Little Christmas debuted at No. 1 on Soundscan's Christian Seasonal Sales chart and Southern Gospel Sales chart, Top 10 on Billboard's Jazz Albums chart and Traditional Jazz Albums chart and No. 20 on Billboard's Christian Album Sales chart.
