S.O., Lamp Mode Recordings' first international artist, has set Sept. 6th as the release date for his latest album,
Augustine's Legacy.
His first full-length release since the
So It Begins, So It Continues, So it Ends trilogy,
Augustine's Legacy is available for pre-order and pre-save on July 16th. The first single, "Goals," drops on July 19th with a video to follow.
S.O. is known for bearing his soul through his music, and the album title
Augustine's Legacy was birthed out of him processing the passing of his father.
"On the anniversary of my dad's passing, I put something on Instagram with the hashtag #AugustinesSon, and my wife did something, but she put #AugustinesLegacy, and I'm like, 'Babe, that's fire! That's the album title,'" S.O. said. "We're all leaving a legacy. What's your legacy going to be when you pass? Thankfully, I have a good memory of my dad, so I want to continue his name."
The album art is also the first actual family portrait with S.O., his wife and his daughter. S.O. has kept his daughter off of his social media. On the album cover, a plant leaf covers most of her face.
"One of the biggest things for us was, 'How do we show our child on our terms?'" S.O. said. "We are not trying to monetize her. Rather we wanted to show life through the cover. That is why you see the plants surrounding us. I am an extension of my dad's legacy and now my family is my legacy."
S.O. once again teams up with super producer GP for the 12-track project, which also includes production from Alex Hitchens and OnBeat Music.
Augustine's Legacy features appearances from newcomer Mallory Jackson and British sensation Lucy Grimble.

S.O. believes the new project shows his full diversity as an artist.
"It's meshing together all the sounds people have heard from me over the last two years when I've been releasing singles and EPs," S.O. said. "You'll get the hip-hop vibes, the Afro vibes, the singing vibes, all of that. You'll get that emotional side. This album is where I am right now."
