Ahead of tomorrow's release date, Matt Hammitt is giving NewReleaseToday a preview of his new acoustic version of "Footprints," a single that has already seen over 1 million streams on Spotify. You can listen to the new version below.
"I can't recall how many times I saw that poem 'Footprints in the Sand' hanging on people's walls when I was a child," explains Matt when asked about the song. "I hadn't experienced enough life to understand it's meaning back then. A few years back, I was rummaging through some old belongings in my basement and came across a copy of that poem. Tears began to roll down my face as I read it from a different place in my life. I understood the real meaning of seeing that one set of footprints behind me, that sometimes our Savior must carry us when we have no strength left of our own. When people hear this song, I hope it helps them see something of meaning, that once seemed cliche, with fresh eyes."
The acoustic version of "Footprints" will be released to all digital and streaming outlets on Friday, June 28, 2019.
