Spoken Word Artist Egypt Speaks has announced the release of her new album Wanderer which is set to drop June 14th. The three time Kingdom Image Award Nominee shared the news along with a music video for the record's title track with the promise that the release would be not just honest, but vulnerable. " I think that every artist wants their work the be seen as honest," the now 20-year-old poet explained. "I've just noticed that there seems to be a line between being honest, and being vulnerable and this record addresses that issue."

Her latest single, "Don't Meet Your Heroes," released last Thursday afternoon, follows the the disenchantment with the reality that each person's journey may not be as wonderful as it can be made out to be. "The poem itself is about what happens when our heroes, our hopes, our desires are not what we thought that they were, and how we cope," Egypt commented. "Especially when it comes to our faith I feel like there are just a lot of misconceptions as to what life should be like, so that when the hard times come, it's like our heroes failed us when in reality our hero has been there all along."

Egypt Speaks is a Spoken Word Artist from Cleveland, Ohio. After releasing her first full-length album Stories independently in 2014, Egypt has toured the country and beyond sharing her stories through the art of poetry. At age 16 Egypt received the rank of 1st in the state of Ohio and 2nd in the nation in the category of spoken word according the National Fine Arts Association. In the same year she placed 3rd in a worldwide competition for poets and performers of all ages. In 2017 she embarked on her fourth cross-country, headlining tour spanning 25 states. She rounded off the year on a high note after being named Teen Christian Radio's Female Artist of the Year. In June of of 2019 after a successful headlining west coast tour, the young poet was nominated for three Kingdom Image Awards including Best Drama Performance, Producer of the Year, and Best New Artist.

"I really wanted this project to celebrate all of our journey's and create a space where questions, in any form could be asked openly. I just wanted to be honest," Egypt concluded.

You can catch Egypt this summer as a part of the Premiere's summer festivals series alongside artists such as For King and Country, TobyMac, Skillet, and Mr. Talkbox.

Wanderer will be available on all digital streaming platforms on June 14th.
