Michael Sweet has been busy in 2014, with his solo release I’m Not Your Suicide, his autobiography, and a live album with his band, Stryper (Live at the Whisky).
Sweet’s multitasking has hit a new level this year as he also has been working hard with legendary Dokken guitarist George Lynch, appropriately titled SWEET/LYNCH.
The group, which also features Megadeth/White Lion/Black Label Society bassist James Lomenzo and Whitesnake drummer Brian Tichy, plans to release its debut project on Frontiers Records on Feb. 24, 2015.
In the meantime, the band plans to release its first single and lyric video for the new song “September,” a tribute to the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
As for the sound of SWEET/LYNCH, Sweet told Guitar International that people will hear “some flavors of Journey, Bad Company, Dokken, Van Halen,” and of course, Stryper.
Sweet added that he and Lynch are “extremely excited” about what they’ve created together, and said the chances of touring the project are “one million percent.”
