It's rapper/singer Brian Reith's birthday today, but he's the one giving us presents. The artist released his first single under his full name today, appropriately titled "Good 2 B Back." Originally known by the moniker B. Reith, Brian got his start with Gotee Records in 2008 before venturing into the indie world.
"Good 2 B Back" was originally released exclusively to Patreon in late November 2017. "Can't think of a better thing to do on my birthday than share a song with the world!" Brian wrote on Wednesday in a Facebook announcement about the upcoming single release.
Brian said of the new single, "This song is kind of like a rebirth / reintroduction, even though not much has changed. Writing it reminded me of all the different reasons I've created music and continue to do so. I wanted it to feature rapping and singing, and somehow found a way to balance attention grabbing with encouragement/hope and life giving. I remember laying on the floor trying to write it, asking God to help bring life into my lack of having anything to say. I produced it myself, it is the first of many different multi-genre songs I'll be releasing this year. I've never approached recording and releasing music this way, and I feel so free and excited about what's ahead."
Reith makes the reason for his "name change" evident in "Good 2 B Back" with the lyrics: "Initially I hide behind the initial, but now this vigilante just became official. No mask, no worries, ain't nothing really changed, just accepted who I am, embraced my full name." Looks like the Comeback Kid is back and we're excited to hear what he does next.
