Kansas City, Mo. (October 9, 2013) – The film Unlimited, inspired by true events in the life of Kansas City native and NASA rocket scientist, Harold L. Finch, opens this weekend throughout the Kansas City area. In conjunction with its release, creators behind the film will offer an exclusive showing for families of the public school's local Title 1 program. This federal program provides financial assistance to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.

"This movie is about the unlimited potential that I believe everybody has — and that almost everyone misses out on," said Harold Finch, who has spent much of his life encouraging others. "We wanted to do something to give back to the community, to impact the youth, to inspire and encourage them."

One goal of the Title I program is to provide students with extra educational assistance beyond the regular classroom. "We aim to help students discover their true potential through this program," states Dr. Melanie DeMoss, principal of Arbor Creek Elementary. "We are grateful to the producers for providing this special opportunity for these families to not only benefit with a free night out at the movies, but a two hour experience that will hopefully challenge and inspire them. This is a story these kids will definitely connect with and relate to. We believe this opportunity will impact them as they continue to pursue their high school diplomas and beyond."

Starring actor and former U.S. Senator Fred Thompson as Harold L. Finch (Law and Order and The Hunt for Red October), Robert Amaya as Pedro, (Courageous and October Baby), and Daniel Ross Owens as Simon, the movie was created as a fictional story and filmed on location in El Paso, Texas. Unlimited is produced by Chad Gundersen (Secrets of Jonathan Sperry, Like Dandelion Dust and A Christmas Snow).

In the film, Simon Orwell (played by Daniel Ross Owens) is a brilliant student whose life has taken a series of wrong turns. At the point of giving up on his dreams, he gets a call from an old professor who has discovered a breakthrough in a device that would create unlimited energy, and he needs Simon's help. But once he crosses the border into Mexico, nothing goes as planned. The professor has been killed and Simon is assaulted and nearly killed by members of a powerful drug cartel. Now he must take refuge in the only place that will help him – a local orphanage. There, he meets Finch, a former NASA scientist and his life begins to change. With Finch's help, Simon sets out on a journey to find out who killed the professor and the reason behind their motives. In the process, he discovers the truth about the world-changing device, along with uncovering the power that will allow him to reach his own unlimited potential.

Through the inspirational message and stories of life and success, viewers will embark on a life-changing journey as they discover the secrets of reaching one's greatest potential. "Harold wants people to dream impossible dreams," says Fred Thompson. "When you put faith into it, success becomes a daily process."

Unlimited
opens on Friday, October 11 in theaters throughout the Kansas City area including AMC Town Center 20, AMC Independence Commons, AMC Studio 30, AMC Barry Woods 24 and Dickinson Eastglen 16.
