Reigning WE LOVE CHRISTIAN MUSIC AWARDS Artist of the Year Jonathan Thulin told fans Thursday to keep him in their prayers, as he's undergoing a complex procedure to remove his large-brimmed hat.
A review of the pop artist's social media photos reveals that the hat appeared on his head nearly two years ago, and friends and family say it has refused to leave. Over the past few months, it has changed colors depending on Thulin's mood and surroundings, troubling those closest to him.
"The hat... it's basically become a part of him," said a friend, who wished to remain anonymous. "I don't know what its purpose or plan is, but it can't be good."
After a family intervention, Thulin was checked into a medical facility, where doctors immediately recommended the hat's removal.
"I need your prayers, guys," Thulin tweeted this morning. "The hat has to go, they say, and I'm not sure what's going to happen. See you on the other side."
Physical therapists are not in agreement as to what the state of Thulin's skull will be post-surgery. Stay tuned to NRT for more information as we have it.
