It may be the beginning of Spring according to the calendar, but the reality in Michigan is far from sunshine and flowers.
Last week, singer-songwriter Josh Wilson found himself surrounded by snow and ice in the Granite State, and was inspired by a certain Oscar-winning song from a certain recent Disney film.
“It's super cold in Michigan on tour,” Wilson posted on a description of a YouTube video description. “We thought this song was appropriate for sound check. And then we decided to play it during the show one night. Enjoy.”
At the beginning of the YouTube video, Wilson hid behind large piles of snow before noting, “It’s so cold that I have added a very, very special song to my set.”
That special song? “Let it Go” from the animated feature,
Frozen.
“Awesome!” comments fan Jay Blue. “I admit I was doubtful that it would sound right with a male voice, but it’s cool.”
Another fan, Kristy Pelletier, remarked that it was nice to have some variety from the standard recording: “Awesome! Love it. Great hearing it from a male voice. I’m so sick of hearing the Disney version the 18 to 20 times a day that my two year old plays it.”
The performance appeared to be a one-time occurrence, as residence of other cold-weather states commented on the YouTube video, asking why their locale wasn’t cold enough to warrant the arrangement.
Wilson is onto warmer climates on his current tour, though, as he enters a stretch in Arizona and the Southeastern U.S.
