Twenty years ago, Jars of Clay wrote their first songs together as friends in college, and with the recent release of Inland, the band is still going strong. To celebrate two decades of music, the band is planning to release a special acoustic album full of fan favorites from the last 20 years.
Specifically, Jars of Clay plans to record a fan-funded collection of their 20 most-loved songs in acoustic fashion—and fans will have a say on the final tracklist. When fans pledge their financial support via crowdfunding platform PledgeMusic, they not only will get the digital album of the 20 songs, but they also will get access to vote on which songs make it onto the record. The top two songs per album from the band's 10 studio albums will then make up the 20 songs.
Beyond just the digital downloads, Jars of Clay said they will make CDs available plus black and colored vinyl—and even wants fans to vote on which vinyl color will be used. Once fans go beyond the band's unlisted goal amount, the band will donate 10 percent of those exceeding funds to the clean water charity they started, Blood:Water Mission.
Besides the new Jars 20 album, contributors will be eligible for some varied Jars of Clay memorabilia and other recorded projects, as well as a seat at the very exclusive 20th anniversary concert weekend Sept. 26 and 27 in Nashville.
