With a number of Australian artists releasing new music on the international stage this past week, industry watchers were surprised to see next-generation worship group Hillsong Young & Free becoming the top local debut on the ARIA Albums Chart (the Aussie equivalent of the U.S.'s Billboard Hot 100).
According to TheMusic.Co.Au, Young & Free surpassed releases from "favorites" DMA and Hands Like Houses to come in at No. 3 overall on the chart in its first week, making it the top Aussie artist on the chart. The band's sophomore effort, Youth Revival, came in behind British pop-punk band The 1975 and the soundtrack from the TV series Molly.
Hands Like Houses' Dissonants and DMA's Hill's End came in at Nos. 7 and 8, respectively.
