I enjoy listening to Elevation Worship and the message their songs convey. Recently, I saw them in concert, and hearing their songs live felt like a full-circle moment for me. Today, I'm sharing five essential songs from Elevation Worship that every fan should know.
"See A Victory"
"See A Victory" is a song of comfort for those experiencing any sort of battle in their life. The song talks about how God always prevails in the end, even though we may be surrounded: "'Cause the God I serve knows only how to triumph/My God will never fail." Further into the song, the lyrics say "You take what the enemy meant for evil and You turn it for good" which follows what Joseph says in Genesis 50:20, "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good..." proclaiming that our hard times can be turned into a testimony of how God brought us through the battle.
"Here as in Heaven"
"Here as in Heaven" was featured on the 2016 album of the same name. Loosely based on the Lord's Prayer, "Here as in Heaven" reminds us that the Holy Spirit is present and that He is working: "The evidence is all around/That the Spirit of the Lord is here."
"Worthy"
Featured on the 2018 album, Hallelujah Here Below, "Worthy" is a song that expresses the beauty of what Jesus did on the cross. Jesus bore the cross for our sake and humbly gave up His life for us so that we can live in freedom: "It was my cross You bore/So I could live in the freedom You died for." As a result of what He did, we sing, "Worthy is Your name, Jesus."
"Echo"
"Echo" featuring singer/songwriter, Tauren Wells, has more of an upbeat tune. The song mainly focuses on escaping the lies our minds tell us and leaning into the truth that is revealed about God: "When my mind says I'm not good enough/God You're enough for me." Through Him, we receive the strength to overcome our doubts and lean onto the truth about the hope He has in store for us. His love resounds like an echo through our lives: "Your love is holding on, and it won't let go/I feel it breaking out like an echo."
"Praise"
Nominated for Song of the Year in the 2024 GMA Dove Awards, "Praise" has amassed nearly 100,000,000 streams on Spotify and has become a well-known song to people around the world. Just like the previous song, "Praise" also has a very upbeat tune. In the beginning, everyone starts the song chanting, "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord," which is based on Psalm 150:6. Not only does this song remind us to praise in every circumstance, but it also tells us the reason why we should praise God through everything: "I'll praise 'cause You're sovereign/Praise 'cause You reign/Praise 'cause You rose and defeated the grave."
