As a unique collective of creatives, People & Songs is made up of local songwriters, worship leaders and artists who are united by the goal of strengthening the voice of the Church. Founded and operated by "Revelation Song" writer Jennie Lee Riddle and using the tool of music to serve the Church and further the Gospel, People & Songs use their gifts to "applaud and serve others rather than seeking applause and service from others."
Boasting an impressive and growing artist roster of both new and familiar names, the People & Songs team has already impacted the Church in unforgettable ways through their ministry. Inspired by the newest release from People & Songs artist Kaden Slay, we're taking a closer look at the voices behind People & Songs.
Kaden Slay
A worship leader from the young age of 13, Kaden Slay is described as a "giant voice with an even greater heart." As a pastor's son who grew up in the church, Kaden developed an interest in music early on and now serves as a teacher, staff writer, People & Songs artist and worship leader in addition to being a missionary at the headquarters of People & Songs and the Emerging Sound in La Porte, Indiana. Desiring to bring the church closer to Jesus through music, his debut album The Mercy of Jesus released earlier this month and features several other People & Songs artists.
Micah Tyler
Chances are, you first discovered Micah Tyler a few years ago through his viral video on Millennials. Soon after the making of that video though, Micah's music career began to take off, leading him to his current position as a Dove Award-nominated singer/songwriter with Fair Trade Services who has toured with the likes of Big Daddy Weave, MercyMe, Phil Wickham and more. With breakout single "Never Been A Moment" and recent hit "Different," both Micah's debut EP and full-length album have proven to be wildly impactful in the Christian music scene.
Corey Voss
Integrity Music artist and Gateway Church worship pastor Corey Voss has been slowly getting his name out there for a few years now, first with his work on the All About Worship team and then with several high-profile co-writes (Selah's "I Got Saved," Paul Baloche's "We Come To You Jesus"). Also serving as a songwriter and teacher for The Emerging Sound, a summer camp hosted by People & Songs, Corey stays busy in multiple different worship roles. His debut album, Songs of Heaven and Earth (Live), released early this year and is making waves in the church with powerful worship anthems such as "As It Is In Heaven," "Praise The King" and "God Who Moves The Mountains."
Charity Gayle
Serving as a worship leader, People & Songs artist, staff writer and teacher for The Emerging Sound, Charity Gayle may be a new name to you, but her work already speaks for itself. Her latest release, Lord, You Are My Song, recently made a mark on the genre when it debuted at #1 on the Christian & Gospel iTunes charts. The deluxe version of the record released in January and is continuing to impact listeners as Charity serves in worship roles across the country.
Crystal Yates
As a singer/songwriter from Texas who has been in the music industry for nearly 15 years, Crystal Yates is well-versed in the art of writing and performing. Crystal has been a featured performer at events across the country, with outstanding response to her music since her debut in 2011. She is currently working on two new projects, a country/alternative EP and a worship album.
Melanie Tierce
A newer name for worship fans, Melanie Tierce is a People & Songs artist, writer and teacher. Also playing a part in the Emerging Sound Camp from its beginning, Melanie has been featured on several songs as both a writer and vocalist. She was featured on the farewell season of American Idol, getting positive reviews from the judges, receiving a golden ticket and making Keith Urban cry.
Caitlin Lassiter is a North Carolina girl that loves Jesus, music, concerts, writing, C.S. Lewis, and sweet tea... She's also a worship leader dreaming of traveling the world to share God's love.
