To Make God Famous
After I left Breakaway in 2000, I realized that I had never really recorded my own worship project. Again, not a very spiritual reason to make a record, but hey, get off my back. Do you wait for a sign before you get up in the morning? Nope. You just hop out of bed when it’s time. It was time for me to do this, so I did it. And I had an amazing experience with it. For the first time, I think, I really enjoyed the recording process. Half of the CD is live, recorded with Paul Helbig’s old youth group, and the other half was done at Soundtown, David Parker’s studio. The record is simple and fairly stripped-down. Stand-out songs are “Meet With Me,†“Great is Your Love,†and “Days of Elijah,†which I didn’t write, but wish I had. Craig Weaver on drums/percussion, super-cool Shawn Skeen on bass, and the ubiquitous Kendall Combes on electric. Background vocals were handled by Caleb “Smooth-Like-Butter†Carruth and my lovely bride. I’ve sold somewhere in the area of 6000 of these.
