Merry Christmas Early!!

By LauraCC,
This album combines old favorites with more recently written songs. What's interesting is that the only one that Mark Hall actually wrote is "While You Were Sleeping"- the version here is a slightly different variation in that it omits references to Easter and replaces it with another verse about Mary and baby Jesus; which is understandable, given that this IS a Christmas album.
"I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day", although based on a poem somebody else wrote, is like the some of the songs this group has put out in the past-not believing and coming to it in the process of the song.
The old standards, such as "Silent Night" and "Away In A Manger" are very well done and reflect the group's friendly, non-jump and scream mood. Plus, the title is lived up to in this.
Perhaps the best way of ending the CD is with the mood of the last song being soft and sweet. "O Come O Come Emmanuel" is all instrumental.
Altogether, a great any day before Christmas gift.
