What You Need To Know
Carolyn Arends' Recognition project remains an exclusive through her Bandcamp profile, and this track is the fifth to release digitally. The singer/songwriter, now in her 26th year of music ministry, welcomes another CCM female voice to join, Amy Grant, and the result is a comfortable and inviting ode to the comforting gift that God has given us through music. "The fact that we still make music, especially during difficult times," shares Arends, "reveals what a powerful and necessary treasure music really is."
What It Sounds Like
There's something incredibly soothing about a few acoustic guitars, light drums, a shaker, and hints of an accordion. Carolyn Arends' latest with Amy Grant will transport you back to simpler times where focuses were on melodies and lyrics, beyond production value and gloss. There's beauty in the simplicity of this track that we just don't get much anymore on our playlists and the lyrics breath a welcome comfort to the chaos that continually surrounds us.
So many of David's best songs start out with lament, worry, and strife and then end with joy, celebration, and praise. I've found that the journey is consistent with many days. Somehow, God has the ability to even dive into the worst moments and pull out the best–assuming we allow that process to happen. Music has always helped me get there. That perfect song, in the perfect moment, will take the worst day and shine a much-needed glimmer of hope onto my situation. The melody took over, and it started to soar/'Til it wasn't melancholic anymore. Music can be a massive healing tool in our journey to better mental health. When the world is getting to be a bit much, music can help pull us out, see better days and focus on Jesus.
