American Idol season eleven finalist Jeremy Rosado blasts onto the scene like Finn from Star Wars in his latest album Heartbeat. Rosado teams up with Aaron Rice (producer for artists like tobyMac, Mandisa, Jason Castro and Jaci Velazquez) as well as Canon and Blanca to bring you a record jam-packed with memorable songs.
Heartbeat is the result of many hours of hard work by Rosado. It speaks volumes to the listener about a plethora of different topics. Upbeat, yet authentic, Rosado shows his sincerity by addressing his own life experiences through his songs.
There were a handful of songs that I found myself singing along with Rosado. "Bright Lights (That Kind of Love)" talks about his experience in the music industry, including being on stage with American Idol and Acquire the Fire. He compares the bright lights to that of Jesus Christ and how the spotlight pales in comparison to God's love.
"Heartbeat" sounds a lot like fellow American Idol contestant Andrew Garcia as Rosado brings the pop sound to his lyrics of loyalty. Commitment to God no matter the cost is conveyed throughout the upbeat song. "Innocent" takes us to an imaginary courtroom via the first verse. The message of being innocent under the cross cuts deep through the pain of mistakes. Rosado rings the bell of forgiveness several times to help his audience see the truth of freedom through letting go of the past.
"What It Means To Stay" is a true love story. Rosado narrates it by means of his God-given talent: his vocal chords. The mix of Rosado and Blanca's vocals seem to easily express the passion of promise when defining what it means to stay in relationships, despite the painstaking difficulties.
The Bottom Line:
If you enjoy Group 1 Crew, Royal Tailor, Jimmy Needham, Bebo Norman and Salvador, then you will enjoy the assortment of melodies that Jeremy Rosado creates within Heartbeat. The wide range of sound and messages can cause a bit of inconsistency for the album as a whole. But if you are looking for stand-alone songs that uplift and encourage, this album was made for you to enjoy.
