Irish worship group Bluetree has been crafting songs for the Church since the early 2000s, and they seem to get more passionate about their calling as time goes on. After a number of studio albums and live projects, Bluetree is releasing Worship & Justice as their first musical partnership with Integrity Music. The songs on this album are firm statements of what they believe and their conviction that even if we don't praise God, the rocks will cry out in praise. Either way, God will get the glory, and the band does a great job of emphasizing that truth.
"It Is Finished" begins the album with a declaration of the power of the cross: "the cross has done it / the work is over." The next two tracks, "My Redeemer Lives" and "Jesus Healer," focus on praising God for who He is and all He's conquered. Continuing the theme of praise, "Each Day" and southern-sounding "Magnify" are moments of worship thanking God for His faithfulness every day of our lives.
Standout cut "New Creation" proclaims strong Biblical truths and puts them in a way that connects on a deep level with listeners. The remaining songs rounding out this album revolve around another theme: God's sovereignty in every season of life and how worthy that quality is of praise. "You'll never let me go" are words sung in faith that we find in "Rest," another great worship moment. "My Rock" and "You Were You Are" thank God for being the constant solid ground for us, no matter what we're facing.
Closing Thoughts:
It can certainly be said of Worship & Justice that it's one of the strongest sets of worship songs we've heard in a while. Every song centers around the theme of praise, yet they all have a different message, and they all are easily relatable to listeners. An album of this strength suggests that Bluetree may be in the peak of their career, and good things are on the horizon for this group set on fire for God's kingdom.
