On his YouTube account, August released a self-produced mix of *NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” and Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood.” The audio-only “video” features August singing the boyband verses over simple pulsating keys before breaking into the big sounding T-Swift chorus.
The mash-up shows a more electronic pop sound than August’s fans are used to, but the track is getting plenty of positive response in YouTube comments and in “thumbs up” ratings.
August is no stranger to mainstream pop, having originally started his career signed to Geffen Records and managed by Jessica Simpson’s father/manager, Joe Simpson. He produced records for Brian McKnight, Simpson and played keyboard and was the opening act for Simpson’s sister, Ashlee.
