Hard rock group Skillet has always hinted that their music taste is varied, but their decision to cover Avicii's top 40 smash hit "Wake Me Up" at a festival this past weekend has confirmed it.
The group's first appearance of the summer festival season was at Carowinds' Rock the Park 2015 event in Charlotte, NC. In addition to fan favorites and classic like "Whispers in the Dark," "Monster," "Hero" and "Rebirthing," the group incorporated the Avicii cover in typical Skillet style-- complete with guitar riffs from Seth Morrison, lots of kick drum from Jen Ledger and synth keyboard riffs from Korey Cooper. You can see a fan filmed recording of the performance below.
Although we don't know for sure yet if the cover will be a standard part of the band's summer setlist, you have quite a few chances to find out. The band will be appearing at festivals like Alive, Creation Northeast, Lifest, HeavenFest and Night of Joy. For a full list of tour dates, visit http://www.skillet.com/tour.
