He has the hair, the moves and the demeanor of Jon and Tim Foreman, and now we know why: Tenth Avenue North frontman Mike Donehey is actually the Switchfoot duo's long-lost brother.
An online petition, fueled by the viral hashtag #MauryWeNeedToKnowIfMikeIsAForemanBrother, eventually caught the attention of the Maury show, a talk show that revolves around the results of DNA tests. Host and executive producer Maury Povich filmed an episode featuring Donehey and the Foremans, which airs today (check local listings for channel and showtimes).
In a twist on his typical catchphrase, Povich revealed DNA testing results on air saying, "Mike Donehey... you ARE the brother!" Jon and Tim jumped to their feet, clapping and yelling, "I KNEW it!" over and over.
Jon and Tim's parents admitted to Povich they were curious as to whether there was a "switched at birth" incident at their hospital in San Diego on Sept. 30, 1981.
"The doctor had yelled, 'It's a boy!' and I'm pretty sure just one boy was delivered, although I was really tired that afternoon," Mrs. Foreman recalled. "But then we were sent home with two twin girls--my darling daughters Fauna and Shauna. It was all kind of odd, but I didn't think much of it."
When asked what this news means to them, Jon Foreman replied, "Oh man, he's always been my brother. But now it's official. That's just really cool, really a beautiful part of how the universe works. It's love, man."
