Christian recording artist
Tasha Layton announced on social media that her baby Lyla Mazie Smith arrived on Sunday, February 9th at 5:30pm. Tasha shared that there was a lot of significant things about her daughter’s birth.
“#1 God heals for good! We had no doubt that when God healed Keith’s infertility and gave us Levi that he would do it again! (Do a youtube search for ‘Keith and Tasha’s hope story’ for more on that!)” Tasha posted.
#2 Levi’s birth was traumatic. 30 hours of labor and 3 1/2 hours of pushing left me with some emotional PTSD that I know was in need of redemption. With Lyla my water broke on its own without being induced. I labored for 15 hours and pushed for only 12 minutes!! My epidural didn’t take so I ended up with the natural birth I wanted (but feared) all along. THIS was the redemption story I needed.” Tasha continued.
“#3 God’s timing is perfect. We didn’t have our name fully picked out until she arrived. Tim Rosenau from Toby’s band came to Keith this week and said, ‘I think it’s meaningful that you’re bringing life into the world right now.’ He was referring to all the sorrow, grief, and darkness that’s been felt around us lately. The tragic loss of children, family, and friends. Sickness, cancer, and divorce. When I told Keith that the name Lyla means ‘beauty born in the night’ he instantly thought of what Tim has said and we knew her name was to be Lyla.”
“#4 a heritage worth preserving. Lyla’s middle name is Mazie after my grandmother. It means ‘pearl.’ My grandmother was who truly taught me about Jesus. Every Friday I would stay with her…” Tasha said.
You can share your congratulations with Tasha, and her husband Keith on their social media pages!
