It's been a busy week for Switchfoot with the release of
The Edge of the Earth EP, a new
music video for "When We Come Alive" and the publication of Jon Foreman's latest
piece for Huffington Post.
The music video for "When We Come Alive" features the band playing the tune on the beach, surrounded by fans who were selected through a call put out on twitter prior to the video's filming a few weeks ago. The video also features cut scenes from other significant and inspiring life events. Watch the video below.
The release of the video is the culmination of the When We Come Alive instagram contest, which has seen fans sharing pictures of the defining moments of their lives with the hashtag #whenwecomealive for a shot at a skype call with the band. Although the initial goal was just one winner, Jon Foreman shared
on instagram that their new plan will include more fans, stating "So many incredible moments frozen in time, captured by all y'all! We're gonna pick 9 winners and then keep this thing going- and pick 9 more next week."
The final piece of the puzzle is Jon Foreman's latest
blog for Huffington Post, where he has been an occasional guest blogger for several years. The piece, simply titled "When We Come Alive," details more of the frontman's thought process surrounding this song.
"The meaning of life... Maybe it varies for all of us. But if the meaning of life cannot be answered by the scientists or the philosophers, then it's up to the rest of us to define what it means to be alive," Jon shares in the post. "We, the living, answer that question every day -- not with our words, but with our lives."
