After tackling a number of incredibly hard topics on their last critically applauded EP, The Things We've Been Afraid To Say, the band is returning to the well of deep thoughts with a new EP.
"The Things We're Still Afraid To Say is a continuation of these themes that Christian artists are just not talking about," says frontman and songwriter, Mike Donehey. "And it's about time that a Christian band starts combating this grip of fear on all our lives, head-on."
The new EP tackles topics like spiders, the dark, small spaces, clowns, and being embarrassed in front of large groups of people.
The lead single, "New Heights," is one of the first Christian songs to deal with Acrophobia, better known as the fear of heights. "I hate heights," says Mike. "And I'm sick and tired of pretending like I've got it all together night after night. The truth is, I step on that stage and I clench up. Every time. It's so embarrassing. We're at least fifteen, twenty feet up there. That's high! I feel light headed just thinking about it."
The band has always put action in front of words, which is why the EP release party will take place 118 stories up on one of the most visited glass floors in the world overlooking the city of Seoul. Hundreds of guests have been invited to cram the observation deck after sunset and are encouraged to dress in full clown gear.
"Talk the talk, you know? It will be weird, but Christians are supposed to be weird," concluded Mike. "God is bigger than our fears and we're excited to talk about it. And then never reference any of this freaky stuff ever again."
The Things We're Still Afraid To Say will be releasing on Friday, September 13, 2019.
