On June 30, 2018, the
band announced that guitarist Zach Burkhardt and his fiancée Celina became Mr. and Mrs. Zach Burkhardt in front of friends and family. The newlyweds received many notes of congratulations in the responses, including from the band: "You two were made for each other."
Remeniscent of groups like Barlow Girl and
Superchick, We Were Once formed in February 2014 as an independent female-fronted rock band. Their latest single "
Phoenix" was released in March 2018 to all Christian markets.
