This weekend winners were announced at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards, with several Christian and Gospel artists taking home top honors in their respective categories.
Taking home the title of Top Christian Artist, MercyMe won among other nominees Elevation Worship, Hillsong UNITED, Hillsong Worship, and Zach Williams. "So excited to have won Top Christian Artist at last night's Billboard Music Awards!!! Thank you," the band posted to social media following their win. For Top Christian Album, Alan Jackson's Precious Memories Collection took the top honor.
For Top Gospel Artist, Tasha Cobbs Leonard took home the win among nominees Anthony Brown & group therAPy, Travis Greene, J.J. Hairston & Youthful Praise, and Tamela Mann. Tasha Cobbs Leonard's Heart. Passion. Pursuit also won for Top Gospel Album.
In the song categories, Hillsong Worship's "What A Beautiful Name" beat out nominees "O Come To The Altar" (Elevation Worship), "I'll Find You" (Lecrae ft. Tori Kelly), "Even If" (MercyMe), and "Old Church Choir" (Zach Williams) for Top Christian Song. Likewise, J.J. Hairston & Youthful Praise's "You Deserve It" was named Top Gospel Song out of nominees "Trust In You" (Anthony Brown & group therAPy), "You Waited" (Travis Greene), "Change Me" (Tamela Mann), and "I'm Blessed" (Charlie Wilson).
