A new worship venture is expanding out of a grassroots movement in Nashville, TN that has endeavored to call out the boldness in the hearts of women gifted in worship—whether leading worship or writing worship. The group has been meeting quarterly at Gateway Church Franklin with a goal of community, connecting, encouragement and worship.
Brave Worship was founded by Krissy Nordhoff, a Dove Award-winning songwriter of the popular worship songs "Your Great Name" (Natalie Grant), "Mercy Tree" (Billy Graham), "Back to Life" (Mandisa) and "Fighting For Us" (Michael Farren). She also is a host of the Brave Worship podcast and worship leader conference enabling and resourcing worship leaders globally with new worship music.
The organization is releasing their first single on Friday, April 5 featuring Krissy Nordhoff and Matt Hammit, the former lead singer of the Christian music group, Sanctus Real.
"This was my first day of writing with Matt," said Krissy. "There was just a great sense of the Holy Spirit in the room, and we just began to worship. Once we heard the words 'New Rivers,' we knew that was what we needed to follow. Sometimes rivers create new branches to find new ways to bring water to dry places. The love of Jesus is the same way. He is always finding new ways to reach the dry places in our hearts."
More music is on the way as the larger community continues to write music, books, courses and other resources that will equip the church and empower female leadership within worship.
