Tenth Avenue North released their surprise Islands EP on Thursday, July 10. The EP is the precursor to their upcoming fourth studio album.
Despite the band's lack of advance marketing, intentionally keeping the release a surprise for fans, the EP quickly climbed and held a position in the top five on iTunes.
The songs featured on the EP include lead single "No Man Is An Island," "Forgive Me," "Just Getting By," and a collaboration with rapper KB titled "For Those Who Can't Speak." Tenth Avenue North clarified on twitter "For everybody asking. Our new record will have a whole new batch of songs. The #Islands EP will be the deluxe version."
When asked about the forthcoming album at the K-LOVE Fan Awards earlier this year, Donehey gave NRT this exclusive: "As Robert Frost once said, 'poetry begins with the lump in the throat.' And I can tell you this—can't tell you a lot—but there's a line in every song that makes me cry. So I feel like it's our most heart-felt to date, and musically I think it's our most exciting."
Already the group behind monster hits such as "You Are More," "Losing," "Worn," and several others, this new batch of song promises to propel Tenth Avenue North to new heights musically as they continue to connect to fans and share their message of grace. The release of the new material follows the debut of their new website Redemption Wins earlier this summer, a project that is part of their relentless pursuit to connect listeners to hope and healing.
Tenth Avenue North played lead single "No Man Is An Island" as well as still unreleased "Cathedrals" at Camp Electric in Nashville this week, where they were one of the 2014 headliners. You can catch a small snippet of their performance at Camp Electric below:
