Fireflight's lead singer Dawn Michele has announced that she will be releasing a solo album of worship songs.
Dawn has been in the studio all summer working on the solo debut, set for release in 2018. Fans can follow along her recording journey at @DawnMicheleMusic on
Instagram and
Facebook. She's had time to work on the project as Fireflight has stayed rather quiet in 2017, though they did release an EP of songs from their Innova record re-imagined,
Re-Imag-Innova, with a somewhat more organic musical approach. Fireflight also
shared recently that they're in the studio recording a new single with Disciple's Josiah Prince.
In a live
Facebook video on December 4, Dawn shared the first few teasers of a few of the new songs. She shared "I'm really excited about it because it's just been a cool way to hopefully be able to invite people in to the incredible intimacy and power that comes when we worship God and we connect in that way. Worship is such a powerful entity because so many things that are thrown at us day after day are just all these negative ideas, these negative feelings, and lies from the enemy. All day long we're exposed to so much stuff, and the world kind of throws us at it. And a lot of the time we're kind of thinking along same lines, thinking really negatively. But when we worship, everything about us is lining up with the truth."
While Fireflight's sound has already been approaching a more pop/mainstream sound in recent albums, fans will likely get to hear a whole new side of Michele's famous vocal chops come the album's release. Her draw towards leading worship has been honed and refined over the past several years while she worked on staff at a church in Albuequerque, New Mexico.
