This week NBC's The Voice semi-finalist Christian Cuevas delivered a passionate performace of Israel Houghton and New Breed's song "To Worship You I Live" on the show. Joined by a huge choir on stage, the Top 8 vocalist used the opportunity on national television to lead the room in worship. "So glad that I was able to share God with y'all," he later shared on social media. Christian is among a number of artists who have used their platform on singing shows such as The Voice and American Idol to share their faith, with the most recent being The Voice season 9 winner Jordan Smith.
Israel was there in person for the performance and posted a photo with Christian afterwards, saying, "I'm so honored that he chose to sing one of my songs. I love his humble heart and his willingness to honor God on any and all platforms. Shout out to @aliciakeys for coaching him through and allowing this moment to happen."
Though Christian unfortunately left the show last night after not receiving enough votes to secure his spot in the finals, his performance quickly climbed the charts on iTunes and was praised by many. "I have been in awe of your talent since your blind audition! Thank you for your outpouring of light and love thru music," Coach Alica Keys tweeted. The official Voice Twitter account said similar : "Watching @ccuevasmusic sing his truth with "To Worship You I Live" by Israel & New Breed is a truly a blessing."
