Big Daddy Weave has shared an official fundraising campaign and asked for prayers for bass player Jason Weaver, who had both his feet amputated last week as part of ongoing efforts to fight an infection.
The campaign launched through youcaring.com. "Treatment of this infection continues daily, with further surgeries and treatment of other complications that have developed still being determined," the posting explains. "He remains hospitalized and is expected to be so for some time."
"We ask you to pray fervently for Jason, his family and all treating him," the post continues. "We also ask you to give generously to help with these medical bills. Jay has been used to bless so many. Please bless him and his family now by giving today." The out-of-pocket expenses for Jay's treatment are estimated at $150,000.
The band initially shared the news of Jason's devastating struggle at the KLOVE Awards, where they dedicated their song "My Story" to him in a moving performance. As the news spread the Christian music community quickly rallied around the band, pushing the news to become a trending story on facebook.
In addition to continued prayers for Jason and his family, you can donate to the campaign here. You can also offer the band support and prayers through their facebook page.
