The Christian music world is buzzing as a new website quietly went online this morning that could carry massive implications for dc Talk fans.
Sometime last week, the Internet domain dctalkreturns.com was registered, and as of now, an updated picture of the group's three members--Kevin Max, Michael Tait and Toby "tobyMac" McKeehan--appears next to the words "it's time."
An as-yet-unknown new electronic/dance-inspired song plays in the background that seems to feature the three vocalists.
"There have been rumors of a dc Talk reunion circulating ever since the band took their 'intermission,'" dc Talk Fan Club President Jill Peeples said. "This is the most concrete piece of evidence that we have that this thing is finally happening."
Representatives for Max, Tait and tobyMac--who currently front Audio Adrenaline, Newsboys and the Diverse City band, respectively--did not comment on the existence of the website. Speaking for the trio, publicist Jen Carlson said, "There are many reasons why we cannot comment or speculate on any possible reunion. The gentlemen appreciate your patience and discretion during this extended intermission."
Dctalkreturns.com emerges just months after Tait reportedly said a dc Talk reunion was a matter of "when" not "if," although shying away from mentioning any kind of specific date.
A "whois" search of the ownership of dctalkreturns.com reveals that the site was purchased by Nivek Eseen, C.M., an international media conglomerate based in Dubai, that has worked with dc Talk in the past.
