Former Downhere frontman and Freddie Mercury mimic extraordinaire Marc Martel wowed Internet audiences a few years ago with his hauntingly Mercury-esque audition for a Queen tribute band, a cover of "Somebody to Love." Now an album and an EP later, Martel is set to record an album full of covers for release in June of this year.
Martel has stated that this will not just be an album of Queen songs, but has teased that at least one Queen song made the cut, in the form of "Don't Stop Me Now." A music video has been filmed for the song.
Martel had a long running presence on the outskirts of the CCM industry as part of the critically acclaimed pop/rock band, Downhere, where he shared vocal duties with Jason Germain. After putting the band on an indefinite hiatus, Martel began to focus on solo projects.
