National Signing Day for college football is still a couple of weeks away, but for Reach Records, that day was today, as the premiere label in Christian hip-hop announced a new signee to its roster.
GAWVI has joined the ranks of Lecrae, Andy Mineo, Tedashii, Trip Lee and KB. The artist--whose real name is Gabriel Azucena--is well known in CHH as a top-shelf producer. Having worked with Reach Records for years in production, fans will get to know GAWVI the artist in 2016, as the label also announced his forthcoming debut record.
"I'm excited to share this new music with the world," GAWVI said in an official statement. "My first solo album is going to be like nothing we've ever released under the Reach imprint. We're about to really surprise people."
Reach announced the signing with a dramatic video that gave viewers a quick tour of the label's existing lineup both musically and visually, showing jackets hung along a wall with the various artists' names on them. Eventually, GAWVI comes upon a blank jacket, and his name appears on it before he puts it on, saying, "This feels good."

GAWVI's new label home praised their signee.
"GAWVI has cemented himself as one of the most invigorating producers in recent memory," reads the official announcement post from Reach Records. "His aim is to usher in a new sound, and to redefine the possibilities of what popular music can accomplish. ... After years of maneuvering behind the scenes and masterminding a host of albums and Billboard charting singles, GAWVI is set to venture out as a solo artist. Energized by his travels and his experiences as a husband and new father, he's ready to add to his story via a batch of genre-defying material."
