Chicago based Chevelle is comprise of brothers Pete Loeffler (vocals/guitar), Sam Loeffler (drums), and Dean Bernardini (bass). The original lineup contained the third Loeffler brother, Joseph, on bass, who departed the band in 2005. The band began in 1996 when the three Loeffler brothers learned how to play their respective instruments themselves. They began playing clubs in the Chicago area, only to find themselves more than 20 years later as one of rock's most popular acts. Their first album, and only release not on Epic Records, was "Point #1," released on the now defunct Christian label Squint Entertainment. Their sophomore release would be the one which would put them on the map, 2002's "Wonder What's Next," their first major label release, containing singles "The Red" and "Send The Pain Below," both obtaining significant airplay. They have gone on to release 8 studio albums, 2 compilation albums, and 2 live albums, along with a live DVD. The band no longer considers themselves a Christian band, and hasn’t since their signing with Epic Records, but rather is a "Chrisitans in a band" type of band now. However, many of their songs can still be found with Christian lyrics after their Epic signing, such as “Grab Thy Hand” off "Wonder What's Next," "Indifference," and “Pinata,” a song dealing with the topic of temptation, with both of those being from 2011's "Hats Off To The Bull" album.
