Good Premise | Posted July 08, 2010
I decided to read "Enoch" for the same reason I wanted to read "Dark Moon", one of his earlier works. Yet like "Dark Moon", it has its moments of grandeur but in the end is disappointing. Henick Jaredson (note the clever last name) is a man walking the streets of rural Texas when an elderly couple drive up to him in a pickup. They and many others, including an FCC agent, an FBI agent, and a local Texas policeman are soon thrust into an intriguing chain of events which sounds an important alarm for the world. With a unanimous message unexpectedly popping up through every major media outlet heralding Enoch's purpose, the world soon learns that either the world's largest Internet prank is being executed, or it is something supernatural, which naturally draws staunch opposition from numerous skeptics. Mary-Martha Celestine, founder of a 12,000+ member cult group is met by a force beyond her comprehension, and her driving quest is now to find and use Henick to her own benefit.
"Enoch" used a great and as far as I know original premise with which to illustrate its message in novel form. I thought it was a bit slow in areas, but at times it was quite enjoyable. The ending, however, was agonizingly quick. Great on the idea, all right on the execution of it. But I'll contiue reading more of Gansky's books.

A Fun Read | Posted June 10, 2009
Alton Gansky is one of my favorite authors and writes a lot of different types of books. This one is a fun read it just didnt grab me like some of his others. Book is based on the biblical figure Enoch who didnt die. Enoch is back to deliver a message to the world and it tells us to "Look for the One I AM sending you." Also there is Mary Martha a former palm reader that has started her own church. A great story I just didnt feel that some of the characters stories were developed as much as they could have been. Also I thought the book ended rather quickly. Still a great book though and a must for fans of Gansky. I still like some of his other books a lot better though such as the JD stanton books or the Perry Sachs books.

Takes You On Quite A Ride | Posted May 29, 2009
I had never read anything by Alton Gansky before reading Enoch, but after reading Enoch, you can be sure I will read more by Alton Gansky. Enoch is an incredible story that takes you on a walk with a messenger. You will witness and experience many emotions and many events from the best of the best and the worst of the worst.

You will meet Henick who is almost single-minded in going where God leads him and doing His will. At times it is painful to his new traveling companion Eddie who cannot understand the reasons behind God's will in some situations. It gave me a wonderful "YES!" moment with my own questions of God and what is really His will and His plan. Henick is faithful to his Lord and to delivering His message. There are those who would like to interfere with that message and purpose.

Besides being a real page turner, Enoch made me think. What would I do if I met a stranger who was simple in his needs and kind. Seeing people respond to Henick was the first part of the story that made me think and made me want to act and react in love.

Enoch was a very enjoyable read. There are thrilling moments and moments of eye-stinging emotion. Situations and beliefs were probed which caused me as a reader to think and ask my own questions. This book was engaging. I look forward to reading Alton Gansky's next novel "Angel" as well.
