The oldest Son of a family of five, I grew up with a rich spiritual legacy. I am the Son, Grandson and Great-Grandson of a line of powerful Ministers. My Great-Grandmother, the late Rev. Mary K. Waymon was a pioneer in founding the Christian Methodist Episcopal demonination in the south during the early 1900’s. My Grandmother, the late Evangelist Lucille Waddell became very well known on the east coast in the 50’s and 60's for her POWERFUL sermons with signs and wonders following. And my Mother, the late Minister Robin Thomas, was a gem in her generation and an example of wisdom personified in her ability to expound on the word and put it into everyday practicality.
The word of God has always been the foundation for everything in our family. In addition to the family’s love for the word, has been our love for music! The world recognized my family’s musical ability in the person of my Great-Aunt, world reknowned blues artist Nina Simone. But our musical heritage starts in church. Almost everyone in my family either sings, or plays an instrument. In fact, my Mother was the choir director for many years and my Dad sang in the choir. The story has been told many times by parents of how I was singing before I could speak. My Father says that I would sing myself to sleep at night as a baby.
I sang in church for the first time when I was 4. Since then music has been a part of my spiritual DNA. I have always known that the Father desired to use me to minister first to him then to others on a large scale. As I grow in my walk with the Father, I grow in my love for the word of God and the things that concern his heart.
In 2001, I released my debut album entitled “Pray” which I now see was prophetic. The title track of the album (Pray) was a strong warning to the body of Christ that we have been given dominion in the earth and that we have a responsibility to join Jesus in Intercession. In 2008, the Lord called me to take my place as a watchman on the wall of intercession (Ezekiel 3) as an intercessory missionary/worship leader with the International House of Prayer, Kansas City.
