The Ticker: Baby Rawk Fist
Our Editor-in-Chief wades through seas of Christian music and entertainment news just to bring you the pearls of info you need.

You know when you've just eaten lunch, and you think you're full, but then you smell some delicious, warm, freshly baked bread wafting through the room and you must eat it? The Ticker is sort of like that, except that it's not edible. Please, do not eat your computer. Instead, savor the latest bits of news. Still talking metaphorically, though.

A church Worth Dying For
High-octane, next-generation worship band Worth Dying For's newest project differs from their first two--self-titled debut Worth Dying For and follow-up Love Riot. The band is a critical part of a new church plant in Los Angeles called Fearless Church, which is headed by Jeremy Johnson and his wife, Christy--one of the lead singers of Worth Dying For.

"We were traveling to an event with our team to lead worship and Jeremy heard God speak to Him," unveils Christy. “For him, although the team was loud and having fun, the sound drowned out to dead silence in his mind. At that moment, he heard God speak, 'In 5 years, you will plant a church with this worship team.' It happened that my dad is the pastor at Calvary Temple where we were serving and 5 years later, he released us and the team to go into L.A."

Lacey Sturm reappears
Former Flyleaf lead vocalist Lacey Sturm has reemerged five months after leaving her former band. Sturm--who departed the platinum-selling band to pursue a “new direction"--recently was featured as one of the musical acts at the Ammunition Conference in Northern California.

According to her website, laceysturm.com, her touring schedule is kept pretty light, given her new priorities as wife and mother, but she is scheduled to perform in South Africa from April 25-28 at the Eternally His Worship Conference

Welcome, baby Cohen McNevan!
The Thousand Foot Krutch family grew Thursday as frontman Trevor McNevan and his wife, Erin, welcomed their first child into the world--a son, Cohen Avery James McNevan. He was born in Nashville at 4:08 in the morning.

“He decided he was ready to come a little early," Trevor wrote on his Instagram account. “Both mom and ‘Co' are doing great! What an amazing miracle! Today we experienced a new kind of love. Welcome home little man!"

The timing couldn't be better, as the band has no gigs set until May 10, according to ThousandFootKrutch.com.

Fans reach Tedashii support goal
Tedashii and his family may grieve, rest and process together the recent loss of his one-year-old son, thanks to the major outpouring of support by the Reach Records rapper's fans.

Vernon Burger--the Founder and Director of a nonprofit with whom Tedashii has worked--spread the word about the tragedy earlier this month in hopes of rallying the Christian community to pray and give financially to the family.

“In five days you guys have provided the goal of allowing Tedashii and his family to unplug for six months," Burger wrote on His Voice Global's blog. “The support has literally been international, from Europe to Australia to the States. It has been incredible!

Burger added that Tedashii and his family “have been completely overwhelmed" by the show of support.

UNITED represents on FoxNews Live
Hillsong UNITED frontman Joel Houston appeared in studio on FoxNews LIVE online on Monday, April 15, talking about their recent release Zion as well as their upcoming US tour. (The interview may be viewed here.)

In the interview, Joel talked about how UNITED has grown over the years in their mission: "Our music has found a voice and given us the opportunity to take the songs places we could never have imagined. Our main cause is to unite people around common causes in the name of Jesus."

Filming wraps on big-studio end-times movie
AFFIRM Films, a division of Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA), and Cinematic wrapped principal photography of THE REMAINING on March 18 in Wilmington, N.C. The horror thriller, based on biblical accounts of the end-times stars Alexa Vega (Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D), Shaun Sipos (Texas Chainsaw 3D), Johnny Pacar (Flight 29 Down), Italia Ricci (“Terminales"), Bryan Dechart (Step Up 3D) and newcomer Liz E. Morgan. THE REMAINING is produced by Brad Luff (Urban Legends), Marc Bienstock (Quarantine 2: Terminal) and La Scala. It's scheduled for a 2014 release.

THE REMAINING is an action-packed, horror thriller about a group of close-knit friends that come together to celebrate the marriage of Skylar (Vega) and Dan (Dechart). The wedding party is sieged by a series of catastrophic events which turns the celebration into a life-and-death struggle. The young group is desperately scrambling for refuge and self-preservation while an enemy they never knew existed unleashes its wrath against those remaining alive.

Writer/Director Casey La Scala (of Donnie Darko fame) said, “I wanted to create a story that captures the imagination of the mainstream and faith-based community. THE REMAINING captures both by centering around finding faith and redemption during the extreme and horrific circumstances surrounding the biblical accounts of the end times."

Kari Jobe single featured on ‘American Idol'
Last week on American Idol, one of the Top 6 contestants, Angie Miller, chose a Kari Jobe song to perform as her "song I wish I had written" selection. Miller's performance of "Love Came Down" from Jobe's 2012 release Where I Find You resulted in a standing ovation from the crowd and all four judges. Following Miller's performance, Jobe's song quickly climbed to the top of the iTunes Christian & Gospel singles chart, and the album is currently at No. 6 on the iTunes Christian and Gospel album chart.

"I have watched American Idol for 12 years, and it was so much fun to have 'Love Came Down' from my album, Where I Find You on there this week," shared Jobe after watching the performance. "I met Angie a year ago and was blown away by her talent and love for Jesus! Excited for her!"
