My Paper Heart [edit]
by Francesca Battistelli | Genre: AC/Inspo | Release Date: July 22, 2008

Francesca Battistelli is no stranger to the stage. Having been raised by parents immersed in the arts and Broadway, she developed a love of music, theater, and performance at a young age. But instead of using these talents for applause and accolades, Francesca prefers to point people much beyond herself - towards hope. Her soulful piano-pop sound resembles a blend of her music interests- jazz, rock, gospel and R&B woven beautifully together with themes of trust and risk taking. Includes the smash single "I'm Letting Go" and the #1 hit "Free to Be Me".

This album is amazing. Especially the song free to be me. It is so important for us realize the fact that God rescued us and now we are free to be who we truely are and know that God loves us for he made us.

One of the best cds of any female artist I have ever heard!

Francesca Battistelli is by far the best in female christian artists.

Featuring the famous songs "Im Letting Go", "It's Your Life", and "Free to be Me"!

Francesca's lyrics are really cool, and her music has a cool groove to it. This CD has some cool tracks on it. I've heard her songs on the radio, and it sounds like she's gonna be a great new artist to watch.

From Francesca's debut album, it is very clear that she is a talented young new artist in the Christian music world. Not only is her music beautiful and catchy, but it also displays the depth of her heart in her walk with the LORD. This album will encourage you, remind you of the Lover of your soul, and maybe even make you want to dance a little! A wonderful add to any music collection!

A truly rare cd! | Posted December 04, 2009
There are few cd's that i like all the tracks. This cd is definitely one of them! Her voice is different than others and her songs have real meaning! Her songs My Paper Heart and Unpredictable are 2 of my favorites, but my most favorite has to be Someday Soon. If you are a fan of Karen Kingsbury, I believe you will love this song! It isn't a straight worship song, but it talks about the type of relationship girls and guys should have. When you say you love someone it should be forever, not just a word to fill the silence.
This is a great cd and I reccommend it to anyone!

delightful surprise | Posted May 20, 2009
I usually don't find to many female artist out that I enjoy listening to. Mainly because I listen to more rock then contemporary...and lets face it their aren't to many female rock artist around.

So imagine my surprise when I was listening to francesca (non rock) and found myself hooked on her voice. She has an amazing voice, powerful lyrics, and doesn't sound like your typical pop/contemporary artist. she has a soulful piano pop sound that is amazing to hear. The cd covers great themes that focus on trust and taking risk.

Main reason I give her a shot is because I saw how many dove nominations she recieved (I think 7 if I remember right) and figured she must be talented. Sure enough she is brillant. I was sad came out empty handed for this project. (once again if my memory serves me right). Hand down I think she should have won female artist of the year.

She set the bar high on this project and I will look forward to a follow up album, hopefully down the road. It is a rare treat where I am hooked on an artist that is young, full of life, and who isn't a rockstar but isn't your typical popstar either. This project is just brillant.

You may not remember her long, but beautiful, name, but I'm sure you've heard her voice on the radio. Francesca Battistelli bursts onto the scene with this amazing debut.

The album's opener, and current #1 hit, "Free to Be Me" is a laidback pop/rock confection that is reminiscent of Carrie Underwood or Joy Williams. Her killer vocals and the fabulous musical production make for an impressive start to the album. The releases' lead single "I'm Letting Go" shakes things up with strong piano undertones and, once again, those amazing vocals. The song follows the same musical pattern as Sara Bareilles' "Love Song".

"Unpredictable" is a fun, chick-rock tune that is somewhat like Rebecca St. James, while "My Paper Heart"'s insanely awesome organ and drum beat sounds somewhat like Stephanie Smith. "Beautiful, Beautiful" is a gorgeous worship song that talks about how God makes everything beautiful. "Blue Sky" is a peppy, lively song that triggers memories of Kelly Clarkson's "Walk Away".

"Forever Love" is a little boring and repetitive, while "Someday Soon" features crunchy guitars much like Plumb. "Behind the Scenes" shows Francesca's vulnerable side while the declaration, "It's Your Life" is an uplifting, pop tune that is just screaming for radio release. "Time In Between" is a beautiful ballad that showcases Francesca's wowing vocals.

The acoustic sound of the album's closer "Keep Me Guessing" is a sunny end to this phenomenal album

Overall, the album is quite diverse and includes dabbles of pop, rock, folk, country and jazz. Francesca's unwavering vocals and faith will take her far and I can't wait to see what's in store for her.
