Great as the Songs are, they're not the BEST of 2008! | Posted October-28-2007
Don't get me wrong, there are some real shiners here. Casting Crowns shows up, as they well should, but I consider much of their last CD to be better than much of the other tracks on this disc. And the fact that the track chosen for them was from their PREVIOUS CD was disappointing... no East to West?

Tomlin, Rush of Fools, Glory Revealed's "By His Wounds", and Big Daddy Weave are all good choices for the CD... they're stuff that really highlights what CCM sounds like. But BWD was also from 2006, which doesn't make a placing on the 2008 CD logical. Britt Nicole is added singing not her hit "You", but "Set the World on Fire", a far less popular track for sure. David Crowder is suspiciously missing, even though they had a song from their new CD on WOW 2007's DVD, and Aaron Shust is strangely represented by a minor track... why not "Word of God Speak"?

Although the CD is a nice mix, it's not really the best 30 songs to choose to represent 2008.

I'm not buying. | Posted October-28-2007
The first CD itself was great... check out the review on it to see how the CD did. But the Deluxe Edition is not something to re-release over. I'm not rebuying the entire album to get an hour of video that's probably 50% hand-held and shakey, much less some music videos that're already playing on JC-TV and YouTube... and will probably be on the next WOW DVD.

"By His Wounds" Worth It Alone | Posted September-13-2007

Not Bad... | Posted September-10-2007
33 Miles has a great team working to make some good country rock. However, I don't hear all that much in terms of creativity or uniqueness compared to other country or rock music I've heard (though the overall sound is nicely blended). Good CD, though...

Maybe I Do Like Rap | Posted August-21-2007
I've never been much into rap and hip-hop, but that may have changed. This has by far one of the strongest bunch of lyrics I've seen in a long time. The melodies work nicely, but the lyrical summaries of the letters of Paul are just very well done. Props to the genius that thought this thing up.

Excellent Worship CD | Posted July-15-2007
This is one of my favorite worship CDs. The semi-rock sound added to the clean vocals and acoustic-sounding rythum of the CD makes a very different but enjoyable sound for change up some popular Christian woship songs. Although most songs on the album are covers or arrangements based on previously written songs, some creativity is shown on the track "Every Time I Breathe". The acoustic nature of the song shows exactly what talent the band has in writing music, I only wish they would do it more.

Great for a "Best Of" Album | Posted July-15-2007
I've never been a fan of "Best of" sets, but having discovered Third Day late in their career, it was cool to get one album highlighting their early career. "Thief", "Who I Am", and "Blackbird" are favorites of Third Day fans, but the singles they're know for, such as "Your Love Oh Lord", "King Of Glory", and "My Hope is You", are here to make a great collection of songs that really are the best of Third Day. The addition of remixes and re-recordings of some tracks make this a great album. (I especially like the cleaner recording of "My Hope is You".)

The DVD features a whole ton of goodies, such as live performances of big hits at the GMA awards, Music Videos, and "Bootleg" early videos, something a Third Day fan -- or just about any CCM listener -- would enjoy greatly.

Had me on "Rebirthing"! | Posted July-07-2007
First heard "Rebirthing" from the music video, and got in drilled into my brain within a couple of days. Just starting with such a strong song is credit to the talents of Skillet, much less the great line-up following their single.

"Yours to Hold" shows Skillet's ability to still sound right at home with a slower melody. This song, as well as "Say Goodbye", also demonstrate some of the more interesting vocal performances, and are some very well-made tracks that work where "Rebirthing" will cause headaches.

An excellent CD. "Better Than Drugs" is the only negitive I find on the disc, as it only makes God out to be a high better than the one drugs can give, ignoring the true benefits of God. Otherwise, the album is well made. I cannot wait for Skillet's next release.

The Best by The Best | Posted July-03-2007
dc talk is definitely one of the best bands to be found in Christian music. This 'best of' collection is a well-suited disc to represent the work the band has done. Although "So Long My Friend" was disappointingly left off the album, the all-time big tracks are here: "Jesus Freak" (of course), "My Will", "In the Light", "What if I Stumble", "Between You and Me", "Say the Words" (why the remix?), and "Luv is a Verb". A must-have album for any music fan.
