I've been studying the Gospel of Matthew with my family the past few months and we finished it right before Easter. Since I've started posting devotionals based on songs, scripture literally has been singing sweetly to me. This passage has really jumped out at me. Matthew 5:15-16:
15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Here's a playlist of just the 12 best songs based on this passage, 10 Christian and 2 secular but all with the same passage as the inspiration.

1)Let Your Light Shine-Bethany Dillon-amazing song from "Waking Up", puts me right there in prayer with her.
2)Shine On-NEEDTOBREATHE-I've loved this song from "Daylight" ever since I first heard it, what a great reminder.
3)Shine On Us-Phillips, Craig & Dean-a great vertical worship song to God and a blessing.
4)Shine-Newsboys-classic anthem, still relevant 14 years later.
5)We Shine-Fee-great new vertical worship song in living out our calling as Christians.
6)Shine-Matt Redman-also on "Passion God of This City" along with "We Shine". Seems this passage is the theme of the album.
7)Shine Your Light On Us-Robbie Seay Band-excellent song of hope on "Give Yourself Away".
8)Shine Like The Stars-Stellar Kart-my favorite from "Expect The Impossible", great message.
9)Waiting To Shine-Building 429-the theme of "Iris to Iris" and another gem from that album.
10)Shine On-MercyMe-great reminder from "Undone" album to live out the Gospel.
11)Shine-Collective Soul-came out the same year as the Newsboys song, 1994, and helped bridge me to the Gospel and Christian music.
12)Shine Like It Does-INXS-one of my favorite 80's bands, seeking for meaning with this song which is ultimately found in Jesus.

God Bless!
