Pastor and author Lloyd Ogilvie was hiking in a desolate area in Scotland; he fell and broke his leg. In despair for his life, he remembered scriptures that promised his hope in God. He began to crawl from where he fell, and "happened to be found" by a man (who just "happened to be a doctor") and his 2 children. During the months of healing and rehabilitation, he studied the promises of hope written in the Bible. A Future and A Hope is the result of the reflections on that study: Christ seeking the lost and wounded and bringing them hope; Christ's resurrection as a historical basis for hope; hope as the indispensable anchor for faith and love; life as "soul-making" and hope as the "helmet of salvation;" the impact of hope on interpersonal relationships; and how even our failures can become the occasion for indomitable hope.
