Christian hip-hop artist (CHH) Dusty Marshall is an emcee who dares to be different by pursuing his purpose to spread hope through testimony-driven music. With a focus on lyricism and a background in addiction, his songs are known for their heart felt topics, in depth storytelling, and wordplay over soulful and high energy instrumentals.
Dusty Marshall resides in Phoenix, AZ and received his hip-hop roots growing up in Los Angeles during the "90’s gangsta rap" era and underground secular scene. In 2004, Marshall began finding success in the secular underground scene in Southern California. He joined up with a crew of artists and began recording albums and opening up for artist like Too Short, Raekwon, Talib Kweli, and Hieroglyphics.
In 2010, after struggling with addiction for over 15 years, as well as the chaos of being a full-time criminal, God brought Marshall to his knees. With the suicide of a close friend and the overdose of another within the same week, Marshall decided he wanted to change his life for the better. He surrendered his life to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and knew he needed to surrender his passion for hip-hop.
With new found purpose in Christ, Marshall set his sights on redeveloping himself as a Christian artist. Between 2012 and 2016, he put out a mixtape, two EP’s, and multiple singles. Each project he put out was followed up with national tours, including performances with artist like NF, Bizzle, KJ52, No Malice, and Illuminate. Marshall also performed at some of the largest Christian festivals in the US, including Creation Fest NE/NW, Elevation Music Festival, and Hope Fest, where he performed with CCM names like Jeremy Camp, Matt Maher, and Newsboys.
In 2017, Marshall released his freshman full-length album titled, Beauty in the Struggle. The album focused on the beauty found in trusting God through some of the darkest times in his life since becoming a Christian in 2010. The album received great notoriety and multiple media coverage from international radio, websites, magazine outlets, and television such as Rapzilla, NewReleaseMusic, JUCETV, and Jam The Hype (JTH) to name a few. Following his albums release Marshall embarked on his fourth national tour, covering 12 states, and over 60 locations, sharing music and personal testimony.
Dusty Marshall continues to grow as a Christian and as an artist, and is looking to continue to reach people with his God given message of hope.
