Up-and-coming from the Tulsa music scene, which has produced such bands as Pillar, Stars Go Dim, and Hanson, Red Letter Hero is definitely a band to watch for. RLH is a Christian pop/rock band that features Chance Greer on vocals and rhythm guitar, Glen Harris on drums, Dusty Hinds on bass, and Jonas Reilley on lead guitar. Talented musicians with wide-ranging influences ranging from Goo Goo Dolls to Counting Crows to The Afters to Switchfoot, they come together to create a clean rock sound laced with pop undertones and compelling lyrics.
Red Letter Hero originated as a makeshift band put together by vocalist and rhythm guitar player Chance Greer. Upon being asked to find a band for an upcoming event, he started with just a sit-in guitar player and himself. After one of the shows, bass player Dusty asked if they wanted a bass player. Through word of mouth and craigslist the guys added guitar player Jonas . Needing a drummer for their first headlined event, the band utilized craigslist again to complete the four piece with Glen.
Sparked by word of mouth generated by frequent shows and solid performances, the band peaked interest quickly. RLH was booked almost every weekend and some mid-week, playing 65 shows their first year. The band started to gain momentum and moved beyond just a local act. They even earned the right to play shows with and open up for bands such as Six Degrees West, David Crowder Band, Stars Go Dim, NeedtoBreathe and even headlined an Oklahoma tour.
After much experience and the bonding of band mates, RLH released an independent EP at the end of 2011. The band decided that the best way to get the sound they want is to do it themselves, so they spent several months recording, mixing and mastering a CD they were very excited to share with the world. The release was awaited by fans and is expected to lead the band to bigger things. Red Letter Hero is definitely a band you must see live and watch out for.
