Just as the new WOW Hits 2017 album (buy here ) is a collection of today's best hits in Christian music, we thought we'd make a fantastic collection of our own, featuring some great interviews and devotional thoughts in Kevin Davis' popular ongoing Behind the Song series

Below are a number of the Behind the Song devotionals that have been done of some of the hit songs included in the WOW Hits 2017 collection. Check them out, and have a greater understanding of the messages contained in this audio anthology.

"Just Be Held" by Casting Crowns
"There's one song on the album that doesn't have a story, this one, 'Just Be Held.' The story behind 'Praise You in This Storm' was based on a family who lost their little girl to cancer. I saw what worship really looks like in going through that storm with that family. Even though today is bad, God is still good. That's easy to say, but hard to live. That's what I saw and what I learned in walking with that family through that storm. I wanted to write the other half of 'Praise You in this Storm' on this album, about God singing back to me." "Prodigal" by Sidewalk Prophets
"This song is a call to come home. We all want to be home, but everyone gets lost, disgraced or discouraged. Luke 15:20 talks about the Prodigal, a man who hit rock bottom. He got up, went to his father, and while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and, filled with compassion, he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him." (READ MORE)

"The River" by Jordan Feliz
"The song came about and was co-written based on John 7:38. The song itself is an invitation to anyone who hears it. Whether they're stuck in pride and legalism, or wallowing down in the mess they've made of their lives, it's an invitation to take whatever we have and to run to Jesus. It's an invitation to go down in amazing grace and to rise up being made new." (READ MORE)

"Trust In You" by Lauren Daigle
"In the timing of recording these songs, my grandfather passed away. He had cancer for a while. I was super close to my grandfather, and I lived with him and my grandmother when I was in college. When I moved to Nashville, he was healthy and doing well. Shortly after, he got sick, and in the time I was supposed to record the songs, he passed. I had to seek the Lord so much during that time. God showed me a new layer of His character. Because of that, I was able to trust in Him more. God's faithfulness was shown to us in that whole process." (READ MORE)

"My Story" by Big Daddy Weave
"As we were writing about our lives we saw what God was doing in the lives of the other artists on the tour with us, and we wanted the tour to be based on what God was doing in all of us. I woke up one morning and the term 'beautiful offerings' came to my mind. The Lord began to unpack that for me, and He showed me going forward from our song 'Redeemed' that not only are we redeemed from our old lives, but we are redeemed for a purpose." (READ MORE)

"Exhale" by Plumb
"We exist to love and to serve out of the outflow of the grace we've been given. If you don't know what you should be doing, the answer is that you're supposed to love and serve. You're supposed to exhale and breathe out what you are breathing in. I wrote this song based on that sermon." (READ MORE)

"Guilty" by Newsboys
"If you do something immoral in our society and against the grain today, people are praised, and are considered courageous and brave. That's crazy. They are sinning against God, and they are doing something immoral. But we let it slide. There's no feeling of remorse or anything based on the act they've done. If you try to do the right thing and follow Scripture, and are a morally wholesome earthling, you're called a goody two-shoes or a 'Jesus Freak,' which is fine with me because I am." (READ MORE)

"If We're Honest" by Francesca Battistelli
"I've always been fascinated by James 5:16, because I know I need to confess my sins to the Lord so that He can forgive me, and He has set up the church so that we can also confess to one another. Not just to say I've sinned against you, but to share about your struggles and sin areas in your life for the process of healing to begin. Sometimes believers think they'll just confess to God, but not to one another. I found in my own life, in dealing with pride and fear, that saying it out loud takes the power away from it. Confessing sin and everything going on in our lives leads to restoration. Let's be done with the fake and get real as believers and as human beings. Life's too short." (READ MORE)

"You Are Loved" by Stars Go Dim
"Recently in speaking with a Pastor's wife who is battling with cancer right now, she said that when she goes for chemotherapy treatments, this song is the first song she listens to on her playlist every time she goes in. She's been a woman of faith for as long as I've been alive, she has kids and grandkids and she's teaching about faith and shepherding a church with her husband. To hear her say that this message is speaking to her is special, as she's the type of person I want to hear from. It is humbling that this simple message is encouraging so many people."
